The Karate Center
Palm Beach County's Leading Martial Arts Academy

About Us

The Karate Center opened in June 1999 by Master Gary Horner. With the help and support of his family and students, he gathered the remnants of their old studio, Seacrest Tang Soo Do, in Delray Beach Florida and established a full time Dojang (school) in Lake Worth, Florida. The school has grown to over 200 members and continues to grow every day.

Family memberships are the back bone of our student base. We encourage family members to participate in all Karate Center events. We believe that membership in our school is not limited to students traditional Tang Soo Do training in the Dojang, but outside our school as well. Our family atmosphere is supported by our annual non karate events as well as traditional Tang Soo Do events. The family picnic, Halloween costume party, Christmas/Holiday Party, Annual Karate Camp, and Tournaments are just a few events that are open to and attended by our KARATE CENTER family.

Our martial art is traditional Korean Karate. Our students learn to keep a balance between their physical, mental and spiritual training. Our goal is to produce Black Belt Leaders and certified Instructors to insure the future of our Tang Soo Do heritage and traditions. TANG SOO!

Since Master Horner opened the Karate Center in 1999,The Karate Center has grown to be one of Palm Beach counties top martial arts academies, graduating more than 100 Black Belts he has been honored and recognized for excellence locally, nationally, and internationally.

Master Horner is the chief instructor at the Karate Center. He is a 6th degree Master Instructor in the art of Tang Soo Do, an ancient, traditional Korean martial art that dates back over 2000 years. He has also studied Hapkido, Iai Do , Headong Kumdo,(sword) and is a certified Qi Gong instructor as well as studying other martial art styles expanding his knowledge and expertise in the martial arts.

Tang Soo Do is a traditional Korean martial art that places emphasis on basic techniques, forms and self defense. Tang Soo Do training develops three vital areas in students; self defense, healthy bodies, and strong spirit and Life skills such as Confidence, Respect, Self Control, Discipline, and Leadership.

The Karate Center is a Black Belt school and that means, it is our goal for everyone to become a Black Belt.
